Summer Intern Job Description:

The summer intern will answer to the Library Director, and other paid library staff if the Director is not present.

The summer intern will assist on Saturday programs in July and August by helping to setup the room, introducing the performer, and assisting in cleanup. The intern will design a poster for all  the events and post it.  The intern will make a sandwich board sign for each Saturday.

The intern will assist with the summer reading program.  The intern will make up a sign up sheet, reading logs, and activity sheets for children to do when they are in the library. 

The intern will have at least one story hour reading stories of their own choosing, and or a craft hour.  They can have both, and they can do this up to 8 weeks during July and August.  The library has some craft supplies, but the intern will be reimbursed for any materials.

The intern can work up to 8 hours a week. The intern is responsible for submitting hours to the library director for payment.  The intern will need to fill out a w9 for tax purposes. 

After the season is over the intern will write a short piece that describes their experience.  This will be used the following year to attract new intern interest. 

The intern will also write down what they worked for crafts and story hours, with the goal of the piece to help subsequent interns come up with successful ideas, or avoid practices that do not work.
